SPARROWBUSH - One person died in an early morning house fire in the Town of Deerpark.
State police said the fire was reported at approximately 12:50 a.m. Aug. 28 on Darraugh Lane in Sparrowbush, a hamlet in the Town of Deerpark.
The Sparrowbush Fire Department responded to the residence and extinguished the fire.
State police said after the fire was extinguished, the body of a deceased individual was discovered inside the residence. .
Due to the severity of the burns, the person could not be positively identified, state police said.

A joint investigation of the fire by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Middletown barracks unit, the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit and the Orange County Medical Examiner's Office is continuing. State police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but state police said there is no evidence of foul play.
