CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with a homicide investigation in southwest Charlotte.
On Aug. 20, officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to an apartment complex around 10 p.m. on Yager Creek Drive.
Police found 21-year-old Adarres Carderro Thompson Jr. shot. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died shortly after.

Following the investigation, detectives identified Nathanial Joshua Mackey as a suspect in the homicide. On Friday, Aug. 28, Mackey turned himself in to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
After being interviewed by homicide detectives, Mackey was transferred to the Mecklenburg County Jail. He is being charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The investigation into the deadly shooting remains active and ongoing.
