LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — An Indiana infant known as "Baby Adalyn" is safe after a woman befriended her mother as part of an alleged plot to abduct her child.
Just after 5:45 p.m. on July 30, the West Lafayette Police Department in Indiana said officers began investigating a reported child abduction.

According to police, 22-year-old Jasmine O'Sullivan of Georgia allegedly assumed another identity to gain Baby Adalyn's mother's trust in hopes of successfully kidnapping her 6-month-old.
"Investigators have no reason to believe the individual whose identity was used had any involvement in or prior knowledge of the crime," the West Lafayette Police Department said.
Regional, state, and federal law enforcement partners were notified of Adalyn's disappearance. As the investigation continued, law enforcement learned that O'Sullivan had traveled south to Louisville.
"Through the coordinated efforts of investigators and our law enforcement partners, officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department located Baby Adalyn and safely recovered the child approximately five hours after the initial report was received," the West Lafayette Police Department wrote in a news release.

Officials said Baby Adalyn was reunited with her family shortly after.
O'Sullivan was arrested in Louisville and federally charged with kidnapping.
"Thank you to our state and local law enforcement partners, including West Lafayette Police, and our colleagues at FBI-Louisville for their teamwork in helping reunite the child with her family," FBI Indianapolis said on Facebook.
