A fire has broken out at a factory producing combat drones in Poland, with the country's domestic intelligence service investigating possible sabotage, a spokesman for the intelligence coordinator said on Monday.
The blaze at the WB Electronics factory in Skarżysko-Kamienna, around 150 kilometres south of Warsaw, was reported shortly after midnight and has since been extinguished, a spokeswoman for the local police told the tabloid Fakt. No one was injured.
"We are taking this matter very seriously. Officers from the domestic intelligence service ABW are already on site," Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the intelligence coordinator, said on broadcaster TVN24. He said it was too early to speak with certainty of an act of sabotage.
Poland is an important political and military supporter of Ukraine, which has been invaded by Russia.
The EU and NATO member also feels threatened by Moscow itself and is massively increasing its defence spending.
The government in Warsaw accuses the Russian and Belarusian intelligence services of sending agents into the country to carry out acts of sabotage.
WB Electronics is the country's largest private defence company and a supplier to the Polish army. The company specializes in the development and production of advanced technologies for the defence sector, including digital command systems, automated fire control systems, communications equipment and modern unmanned and strike systems.
