Firefighters extinguish blaze at Waterbury home, officials say

WATERBURY - City firefighters responded to a blaze in a home on Farmington Avenue on Tuesday, an official says.

Waterbury fire Capt. Edward Partridge said dispatch received a report of smoke in the house on the 100 block of Farmington Avenue at 12:53 p.m.

Partridge said the first arriving unit found light smoke in the home and stretched an attack line after finding a small attic fire, which was promptly extinguished after they opened up a ceiling on the second floor.

Power was cut to the home and Eversource was called for safety, Partridge said, adding a search of the home was conducted and all persons were located safe outside. He said the fire was declared under control at 1:07 p.m.

Partridge said there are no reported injuries of civilians or firefighters. He said the Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
