A Bexar County Sheriff's Office deputy resigned Tuesday after being arrested on a warrant charging her with a crime she is accused of committing before joining the agency, officials said.
This is the second deputy to resign this week.
Anabell Rivera, who had worked for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office for two years, was arrested on a warrant charging her with tampering with a government record, BCSO said.
The warrant was issued Monday, Aug. 31, and BCSO deputies took Rivera into custody Tuesday afternoon while she was off duty.
BCSO said the alleged conduct occurred in Laredo before Rivera joined the agency. The department did not provide details about the allegations or the government record Rivera is accused of tampering with.
Rivera resigned in lieu of termination after her arrest, BCSO said. The Laredo Police Department is conducting the criminal investigation.

Rivera's resignation came one day after another Bexar County Sheriff's Office deputy resigned following an unrelated arrest.
Johanna Marie Villanueva, 25, was arrested Monday after a relative reported that Villanueva assaulted them while she was off duty Sunday, according to BCSO.
Villanueva was charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member, a Class A misdemeanor. She was released after posting bond.
Villanueva had worked for BCSO for one year before resigning in lieu of termination.
The sheriff's office is investigating the allegations against Villanueva but said it would not conduct a separate internal investigation because she no longer works for the agency.
