Two more suspects were arrested Thursday in connection with an alleged gang-related shooting in Santa Rosa last month, police said.
The Santa Rosa Police Department arrested 39-year-old Santa Rosa resident Jose Delpalacio and 41-year-old Windsor resident Edgardo Tafoya on suspicion of attempted murder, authorities said.
The shooting happened at about 12:49 a.m. on Aug. 3 in the 500 block of Barhman Avenue near Highway 101. One person was wounded in their arm, according to SRPD.
Police determined the victim and suspects got into a verbal altercation in a bar parking lot before someone pulled out a gun and fired.
Later the same day, police identified the suspected shooter as 39-year-old Edward Joseph Sciutto, of Rohnert Park. He was arrested during a traffic stop on Highway 101, according to SRPD. While later searching Scuitto's home, police found a loaded 9mm firearm and approximately half a pound of cocaine, authorities said.
Police called the shooting "gang-motivated" and said the victim and suspects are believed to have associations with rival street gangs.
Sciutto was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, gang participation, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance, according to SRPD. He is being held without bail in the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility, jail records show.
Authorities said detectives arrested Delpalacio Thursday at about 8:50 a.m. inside an administrative office on Corby Avenue. Detectives found clothing and electronic evidence related to the shooting inside his Santa Rosa home, as well as cocaine and items commonly used to package illegal narcotics, police said.
Tafoya was arrested at about 10:30 a.m. while he was leaving his apartment in Windsor, where clothing and electronic evidence was also located, police said.
Both suspects were booked into county jail on suspicion of assault with a firearm, active participation in a criminal street gang and conspiracy, among other offenses. Delpalacio was also booked for possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, police said.
Police on Thursday said the investigation remains active, but did not identify any additional suspects in the case.
