Humidity will continue to build through this first full weekend of August. We'll also see thunderstorms returning on Sunday.
To kick off the first weekend of August, Saturday will be a few degrees hotter than normal with highs into the lower 90s. Typically, we should be around 89 for the high on August 1st for the District. However, with the higher humidity, expect it to feel even hotter.
We'll see increasing clouds through Saturday, but that will not limit the heat. Our southerly winds will allow for highs to reach into the lower 90s along with pumping in the humid airmass, too.
This will set up for the thunderstorm chances as we head into the second half of the weekend. A system over the Midwest will continue to inch closer to the region, and will bring scattered thunderstorms for Sunday afternoon and evening. Some of these storms will contain heavy rainfall and gusty winds, so stay weather-aware for your outdoor plans Sunday.
This system will still be close by Monday, allowing for more scattered thunderstorms around to start off the first work week of August. We'll still have rain or storm chances through at least midweek. We're not looking at washouts, but a very summer-like pattern of afternoon or evening storm chances.
As far as temperatures, we'll see highs around normal for this time of year.
