Two people were arrested after a newborn baby boy was found in a bin at a Malaysian airport.
Local police received reports that a cleaner found a baby boy crying inside a sanitary bin at Penang International Airport (PIA) on Monday, Aug. 31, Malaysian outlets The Star, New Straits Times (NST) and Free Malaysia Today reported.
Police believe the baby was delivered shortly before being found in the bin, as he still had the umbilical cord and placenta attached, according to the outlets.

The baby was transported to Penang Hospital for treatment, Penang's Southwest district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuwal Ab Wahab told NST.
Investigators reviewed airport CCTV footage and subsequently arrested a 22-year-old Malaysian woman and a 22-year-old Myanmar man. Their relationship to each other and the baby are unknown at this time.
"Investigations led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Myanmar national who works as a security guard," Wahab said, per The Star. "The man was detained to assist investigations into the case and was also found to have failed to produce valid travel documents."
The woman was arrested at the shopping center, Kompleks Bukit Jambul, per NST. The man and woman have not been publicly identified at this time.
A forensic team examined the scene and collected several samples that have been sent to the police's chemistry department for analysis, per The Star.
The case is reportedly being investigated for child abandonment under Section 317 of the Penal Code, which covers abandonment by a parent or person having care of a child under the age of 12.
"Further investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of and connection between the individuals detained and the incident," Wahab said, per The Star.
