Residents can donate school supplies at the Crestline McDonald's on Aug. 8 as part of a community effort to help students in the Crestline Exempted Village School District prepare for the new academic year.
The "Cram the Cruiser" collection drive is being organized by McDonald's of Northeast Ohio, local owner/operator Larry Monica and the Crestline Police Department, according to a community announcement. Donations will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the restaurant at 210 W. Main St. in Crestline.
Organizers hope to fill a Crestline police cruiser with donated classroom materials during the event. Residents are encouraged to bring new school supplies to the collection drive, including pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, crayons, markers, glue sticks, tissues, filler paper, highlighters, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes.
Grimace and members of the Crestline Police Department will assist with collecting donations and loading items into the cruiser.
According to the announcement, the goal is to help local students begin the school year with essential classroom supplies while bringing together community members, local law enforcement and business partners.
