After weeks of collaboration with deputies in Idaho, a man has been charged with the murder of a 55-year-old woman in Centralia.

According to a statement from the Centralia Police Department, the case began on August 5. Centralia Police officers did a welfare check in the 1200 block of Marion Street for a 55-year-old woman who had not reported to work.

Inside the home, officers are said to have found a woman who has been identified as Patricia Marceaux, dead from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the autopsy.

As they investigated, Centralia detectives were contacted by the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office in Idaho, which was investigating a homicide from June.

According to the department's statement, the Idaho deputies were looking for a 56-year-old Douglas Bowen of Hayden, Idaho, who previously lived in Lewis County.

Investigators determined that a vehicle associated with Bowen traveled from Idaho to Washington and was in Marceaux's neighborhood at the time of her death.

Centralia detectives then coordinated with Kootenai County detectives on a plan to detain Bowen and to seek search warrants for his vehicles, residence, and storage unit.

On August 12, Centralia detectives traveled to Hayden, Idaho, to assist. The following day, the Kootenai County Regional SWAT Team and assisting agencies stopped and detained Bowen.

He was interviewed by detectives from both agencies and arrested in Idaho on two counts of felon in possession of a firearm and one count of possession of a destructive/explosive device.

The department says it is still examining all the evidence it collected after serving search warrants.

After a few weeks in custody in Idaho, Detectives presented the case to the Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, which then obtained a warrant charging Bowen with first-degree murder in the death of Patricia Marceaux.

Bowen has been booked into the Kootenai County Jail on that warrant and is expected to be extradited to Lewis County in the coming weeks, where he will be booked into the Lewis County Jail.

According to the department, the investigation is ongoing.
