A SWAT situation in East Point involving three different police agencies ended with officers finding nobody inside and no property damaged, police said.

A police spokesperson told Channel 2's Bryan Mims that a woman flagged down officers around 2 a.m. Sunday, asking for an escort home.

She said her children called to say they heard gunshots a few doors down from their home on Bayrose Circle in the Villages of East Point. When officers arrived, they also heard gunfire coming from 2892 Bayrose Circle, and they took cover.

The SWAT team responded and surrounded the townhouse, using a loudspeaker to command the person or persons inside to surrender with hands up.

When Channel 2 Action News first got to the scene, officers from East Point, College Park and South Fulton ha the area surrounded.

A Channel 2 Action News photographer also saw officers in the area moving quickly, armed and ready while they evacuated neighbors from a townhome nearby.

When officers got to the area where the home was, they heard what they believed to be gunfire coming from a house there and took cover, calling the South Metro SWAT Team for backup.

SWAT surrounded the townhome and officers got a search warrant for the residence, finding no suspicious people.

Dray Moore, who lives across the street, told Mims that he heard about 10 gunshots around 1:30 Sunday morning.

He later watched as officers and the SWAT team swarmed his street and did their work.

"They were asking somebody to come out, saying they had a warrant, and to come out, come out," Moore said. "They had no response, and they just ended up going in and breaking in."

Police said officers secured a search warrant and busted through the front door.

Sgt. Jamel Shareef of the East Point Police Department said nobody was injured. Mims asked him if he had any suspects for the gunfire, but would only say the investigation is ongoing.

No one reported injuries or property damage either, according to the East Point Police Department.
