Several people have been killed in Russia and on the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea annexed by Russia in Ukrainian counterattacks, Russian authorities said on Monday.
In Perm, more than 1,100 kilometres east of Moscow, one person was killed as a result of a Ukrainian attack, regional governor Dmitri Machonin said.
Four others were injured and a multi-storey residential building was damaged, he added. Machonin spoke of a massive attack in which 27 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over the Perm region.
In the border region of Belgorod, a man was killed in the town of Grayvoron in a Ukrainian drone attack, according to the regional civil defence authority. A woman was injured, it said. Another person was injured in further attacks and there was damage and fires, according to the information.
On the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, the Moscow-appointed governor of the city of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, said a man and a teenage girl had been killed in a Ukrainian attack. Eight multi-storey residential buildings were damaged, he said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed Ukrainian attacks on targets in Russia. A refinery in Ryazan region was damaged, he said. Refineries in Perm region and the Republic of Tatarstan were also targeted, he said. Targets in Kursk region and in the Black Sea were also attacked, he added.
Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for more than four and a half years. As part of its defensive fight, it repeatedly also targets sites in the Russian hinterland. Russia uses Crimea as a staging area and supply base. Kiev therefore also repeatedly attacks there.
