FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) - One man is in custody on several charges following a 6-mile pursuit on Monday night, authorities in Fond du Lac say.

According to a release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, a Sergeant attempted a traffic stop at 7:59 p.m. after witnessing a silver Volkswagen going 54 mph in a 30 mph zone heading south on Main Street near Guindon Boulevard.

Officials say the vehicle ignored the Sergeant's siren and emergency lights while continuing to increase its speed and continuing south on Highway 175, exiting the City of Fond du Lac.

The pursuit continued until a Fond du Lac County deputy could set up and successfully use a tire deflation device at Highway 175 and County Highway B to deflate all of the vehicles' driver-side tires. This caused the vehicle to eventually slow down before coming to a stop on Highway 175 to the south of Church Road.

As deputies began conducting a high-risk traffic stop, the driver exited the vehicle and ran towards deputies, disobeying multiple commands to stop. A stun gun needed to be used, and the driver was then able to be arrested.

Officials say the pursuit lasted about 6 miles and reached speeds of up to 80 mph. The suspect, a 20-year-old Fox Lake man, was evaluated on scene and taken to a hospital for minor injuries following the use of the stun gun, before being taken to and booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on the following charges:

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

No deputies were hurt in the incident, and there was no reported damage to any government or private property. All lanes of Highway 175 were closed for a bout an hour and 15 minutes as crews worked to safely remove the suspect vehicle from the roadway following the pursuit.
