Kwik Trip appears to be coming to Hales Corners after the company bought a small grocery store that closed in March.
The former Sendik's Fresh2Go, 5101 S. 108th St., has been sold by a Sendik's Food Markets affiliate to the La Crosse-based convenience store chain for $2.95 million.
That's according to a new deed posted online by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
A Kwik Trip spokesman couldn't be immediately reached for more information about the company's plans for the property, which includes a Mobil gas station.
Kwik Trip operates seven stores in Milwaukee County, including one at 10750 W. Speedway Drive, Franklin − about 2 miles south of the Hales Corners property.
Kwik Trip operates more than 900 stores throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Over the past decade or so, Kwik Trip has expanded in the Milwaukee area – which more recently has included Milwaukee County. Most of the chain's county stores are in Franklin and Oak Creek, with one store in West Allis.
Sendik's closed its Hales Corner store because of underperforming sales.
The Fresh2GO concept is a smaller-format grocery store operated by Sendik's Food Markets that offers grab-and-go meals, groceries and household items.
