Florida has the second-most Whataburger locations of the seven states where the fast food chain is established, and there are two new locations set to open in the Sunshine State by the end of October.
The Texas-based chain recently confirmed to USA TODAY that it will be opening 17 new locations by the end of November.

What to expect: Whataburger sets opening date for Fort Myers location.
Whataburger is, unsurprisingly, most popular in its home state of Texas. According to the latest data in ScrapeHero (July 2026), 780 of Whataburger's 1,199 locations nationwide are in Texas – that's 65% of the Whataburger locations in the U.S.
If you don't know, Whataburger is known for its Texas-sized burgers, that can be upgraded to double or triple meat, or sized down to a Jr. patty, which is about the size of a regular McDonald's burger patty.
Other iconic items on the Whataburger menu that keep fast food fans coming back for more include patty melts on buttered Texas toast and the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit, which is one of the most sought-after items on the restaurant's breakfast menu.
Whataburger is also known for being open late. Most locations are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 364 days a year (closed on Christmas Day).
Whataburger has also popped up in pop culture, earning frequent cameos in the animated series "King of the Hill," which is set in Texas. In the original show and the recent revival season, the "King of the Hill" characters are often seen chowing down on the restaurant's burgers. If you're curious, Hank Hill's go-to Whataburger order is a double meat burger.

Florida has the second-most Whataburger locations in the U.S., at 51 locations as of July 2026, according to ScrapeHero. The Whataburger location finder has 53 locations listed as of Tuesday, Sept. 8, which includes a new location opening in Fort Myers this month.

The Texas-based burger chain recently told USA TODAY that it is planning to open 17 new locations across seven states by the end of November. Whataburger currently has around 1,200 locations in seven states.
The company has opened locations in three new markets recently – Raleigh, North Carolina, Tampa and Orlando. And among the 17 new locations set to open by the end of November, there are two more Florida locations: in Fort Myers and Estero. Eight of the new locations will be in the chain's home state of Texas.
The Fort Myers location is set to open this month and is already listed on the restaurant website's location map. The Estero location will be opening in October.
