A car showroom and dealership is coming to Katy for car enthusiasts looking to buy street rods, muscle cars or vintage classics.
Streetside Classics, founded in 2008 in North Carolina, is expanding its reach to the Houston area with a 56,000-square-foot showroom. The facility will house 260 to 300 cars for sale and for admiring.
The dealership, at 500 Commerce Parkway in Katy, will open sometime during the final three months of this year, said Derek Love, the dealership's marketing and technology manager.

According to its website, the company says it provides vintage car enthusiasts with an alternative to buying at auctions or through private sellers.
"When we started Streetside, we committed to a customer-first philosophy in an industry that desperately needed it," said Donna Mueller, the dealership's co-founder and chairwoman, in a news release. "We hope to be a hub for the growing enthusiast community by hosting car shows, welcoming car clubs, and always being a place where you can come see that car your dad had."
Love said Streetside Classics had been looking at opening in the Houston market since 2019 because of the city's car culture and the variety of car enthusiast communities in the region.
The Katy location will mark Streetside Classics' seventh facility across the nation, including in Atlanta, Nashville, Tenn., and Fort Worth.
Love said the company chose to open its new Katy facility in an area with potential clients who "grew up with classic cars, or their family, their dad or their grandpa had one.
"That's kind of our clientele," Love said. "They're looking to relive that, or they've always seen it and wanted to experience it."
The dealership is already accepting applications for those looking to consign their cars. That means anyone looking to sell a vintage car can give Streetside Classics permission to sell the car while maintaining ownership of it until it's sold, and then splitting the profit with the dealership.
Love said most of the cars Streetside Classics has in in its inventory nationally are on consignment.
