University of Houston investigates Thursday video confrontation of faculty member on campus

The University of Houston is investigating videos involving an adjunct faculty member after a social media influencer was seen in the videos walking into a large classroom and and confronting the faculty member.

In a statement to the Houston Chronicle, University of Houston officials said they were aware of the "concerning" videos and were contacting the Harris County District Attorney's Office as the university investigates the allegations made in the videos. The Chronicle is not naming the professor involved as no criminal charges were filed as of Thursday evening.

"The video involves discussion of child sexual exploitation and child sexual abuse materials. UH Police responded to the place where the video was being made in progress," the statement reads. The University of Houston Police Department is conducting interviews and gathering information, UH officials said.

"We take allegations involving child exploitation, abuse and child sexual abuse materials extremely seriously. The University and UHPD will take appropriate action, including contacting the District Attorney, based on the facts of the situation. The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and the community at large remain our highest priority."

Kaman Walker, 18, a freshman at the University of Houston, said a man entered the class he was in with a camera crew around 11 a.m., about 30 minutes before the class was scheduled to end. Shortly afterward, the faculty member dismissed the class, Walker said.

"He walked in with a camera crew and had an envelope of photos," Walker said. "He walked up to the podium, where the professor was, and they went to the back to talk. About a minute later, the professor came back and said class was dismissed. Everyone followed them outside."

Walker said several classmates then began recording the interaction, both in the classroom and outside.
