MONTGOMERY – The township has received a $50,000 grant to support healthier planning and community development efforts.
Montgomery is one of six municipalities selected for the Plan4HealthNJ program, an initiative of the New Jersey chapter of the American Planning Association.
The funding is intended to improve health outcomes and quality of life through community planning, neighborhood design and targeted local investment.
"We are very fortunate to be one of the select few municipalities chosen to be part of the Plan4HealthNJ initiative," Planning Board Chairman Dave Campeas said in a news release. "To make the most of this opportunity, we are asking our neighbors to participate in this important process.
"We need to hear from people across our community, including different neighborhoods, ages, backgrounds and experiences, so that the recommendations and future planning decisions truly reflect the people who live here," Campeas said.
To gather public input, the township has launched a community survey and scheduled two listening sessions.

Township officials said the feedback will help shape future planning decisions in Montgomery while contributing to broader regional data collection.
The sessions are designed to give residents an opportunity to share ideas and concerns about the community's future.
The first listening session will be held virtually at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 via Zoom. The second is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Montgomery Municipal Center.
Registration is encouraged, though walk-ins will be welcome. Residents can register online through the Plan4HealthNJ website.
Mayor Neena Singh said the grant, community survey and master plan reexamination will play an important role in shaping Montgomery's future.
"While the survey is collecting quantitative data, the listening sessions are an opportunity for us to share candid, qualitative input," Singh said. "All of this information will help us make better planning decisions and ensure Montgomery remains a healthy, vibrant place to live, work and raise a family."
Residents are encouraged to complete the Plan4HealthNJ community survey and participate in one of the listening sessions.
