IA, NE, SD (KCAU) — We may be in the final moments of Summer as we reached into the upper 80s today and saw heat indices in the low 90s. Windy conditions were also in store for us today, with winds gusting as high as 45 mph in Siouxland.
Tonight, as a cold front passes through, there is a low chance that it could create some isolated showers and storms. Any storms that form have a marginal risk of being severe, and our main hazards are 1" hail and 60 mph wind gusts. Storms are most likely around 10 PM tonight, but could form as early as 7 or 8 PM.
That cold front will drop us into the 70s for highs tomorrow, with mostly sunny skies during the daytime. Saturday night brings a long streak of rain in Siouxland, with almost every day in the forecast afterwards seeing a chance of some.
Sunday sees a couple of rounds of showers and storms, with a marginal risk across Siouxland for large hail. Sunday also sees a slight risk of excessive rainfall, meaning flash flooding is possible.
Monday continues our chances of showers and storms, with a 15% chance of severe storms. This is equivalent to a slight risk.
Rainfall continues to be in the forecast each day through Friday, albeit with less likelihood than Sunday and Monday. This means we will be seeing mostly cloudy skies from Sunday through Wednesday, with partly cloudy skies after.
As for temperatures, Saturday kicks us off in the 70s, with upper 60s expected for Sunday. Monday sees a brief warm-up back to the mid 70s, with temperatures then dropping back to the upper 60s and low 70s for the rest of the forecast. Nighttime lows will also be in the 50s.
