An Erie woman accused of running a man over at an eastside gas station after getting into an altercation with some women in early July waived her preliminary hearing Sept. 11 as prosecutors added an additional charge against her.
Diamond A. Coleman, 26, waived to court charges including felony counts of aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence and aggravated assault by vehicle, along with misdemeanor charges including a count of DUI what was added at the hearing, Chief Deputy District Attorney Steven Liboski said.
Erie police accuse Coleman of hitting a 51-year-old man with her vehicle and running him over on the early morning of July 5 as she sped off on a suspended driver's license from a gas pump at a gas station at East Sixth and Parade streets. A city police officer who was entering the parking lot of the Holiday Mart gas station after spotting a disturbance there witnessed the accident, stopped the vehicle and identified Coleman as the driver, detectives wrote in Coleman's criminal complaint.
The man who was hit, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital. Police said after the accident that he suffered a significant leg injury and a head injury. Updated information on his condition was not available Sept. 11.

Detectives wrote in the complaint that surveillance video from Holiday Mart showed Coleman in an altercation with other women, and Coleman and another person shooting pepper spray during the fight, before Coleman drove off and hit the man. When police later interviewed Coleman, she admitted to being in the altercation and hitting the man with her vehicle, according to the complaint.
