Travelers on Interstate 5 in Siskiyou County can expect intermittent closures at the Weed Safety Roadside Rest Areas as repairs begin on the picnic table covers.
The California Department of Transportation, District 2, and Wave Construction are working on a $200,000 project to repair and repaint the cover structures over the picnic tables.
Caltrans expects to finish the project in November, the agency said. The rest areas will remain open, but travelers should plan for intermittent closures around the picnic table areas.

The southbound Weed Safety Roadside Rest Area is currently closed for water system maintenance, according to Caltrans' announcement. There is no estimated time for the reopening of this facility.
Construction projects are subject to change at any time. For more information, call 530-225-3426 during working hours or email [email protected].
