(NewsNation) — U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, who's running for Wisconsin governor, says he's in the hospital with minor injuries after a plane he was riding in lost power.
Tiffany was returning from a Republican fundraising dinner around 200 miles from his home in Minocqua, Wisconsin. In a post around midnight Sunday, he said the pilot of the single-engine, four-seat Bonanza aircraft made an emergency water landing in Lake Wausau as they approached the Wausau Downtown Airport.
As the plane began to sink, Tiffany says they swam to a shallow part of the lake and waited for emergency responders to reach them by boat. Both Tiffany and the pilot were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
"An experience like this reminds you just how precious life is," Tiffany wrote.

Tiffany will face Democrat David Crowley in the November general election. He's been endorsed by President Donald Trump.
