Seven people, including a firefighter, were rushed to a hospital after a violent multi-vehicle crash involving a Los Angeles Fire Department ladder truck that was responding to an emergency Sunday.
The incident, according to an LAFD news release, occurred around 2:30 p.m. outside El Diamante Sports Bar at 11928 Figueroa St., near 120th Street, in South L.A.'s Vermont Vista neighborhood.
Details remain limited, and it is unclear exactly how the crash occurred. The collision involved three civilian vehicles and the ladder truck, which is operated by two firefighters, one behind the wheel of the tractor-drawn apparatus and another in the rear position where the ladder is housed.
Footage from the aftermath showed shattered glass covering the street. The front of the firetruck came to rest on the sidewalk near two heavily damaged sedans, both of which appeared to have deployed airbags.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene and cordoned off the area while rescue operations were underway and patients were transported to area hospitals.
Fire officials did not provide information on the severity of the injuries, including the firefighter's condition.
At the scene, LAFD Capt. Tony Tubbs told KTLA that rescuers used the Jaws of Life to extricate a victim trapped inside one of the vehicles.
"When you see a fire apparatus driving through intersections or wherever they're going, an emergency, just be mindful of that," Tubbs said. "Just be aware of a fire apparatus responding to emergencies."
