The Houthi militia has launched fresh attacks on Saudi Arabia, injuring 13 civilians, officials said on Tuesday.
The Iran-backed militia launched drone and missile attacks on Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif in the south of Saudi Arabia, said Turki al-Maliki, who serves as the spokesman for the military coalition fighting alongside the Yemeni government against the Houthis.
Saudi Arabia's civil defence agency issued fresh warnings on Tuesday regarding potential threats in Abha and Khamis Mushait. Temporary warnings were also issued for the coastal city of Jeddah on the Red Sea and for al-Ula in the north of the country. No details were initially available regarding possible casualties or damage.
The kingdom had endured one of its "most difficult nights," the Houthi television channel Al-Masirah reported. The Houthis' "major operation" now extends deep into the neighbouring country, where "growing panic" prevails, Al-Masirah said.
The Houthis said there had also been fresh airstrikes by the Saudi Air Force in Yemen. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the Saudi Air Force had carried out more than 50 airstrikes in the provinces of Tais and Marib within 24 hours. The SABA news agency, which is controlled by the militia, reported that three people were killed and two others injured in Saudi airstrikes.
Yemen's internationally recognized government also stated that it had continued to attack Houthi targets and released videos of the latest attacks involving artillery and drones.
The United Nations estimates that 125,000 people have been displaced since the fighting in the region flared up at the start of the month.
