Flood Watch issued for much of northern Ohio until this evening

Expected heavy rains could lead to flooding in much of northern Ohio, according to the National Weather Service.

Cuyahoga, Medina, Portage, Stark and Summit counties are all under a flood watch through Sunday evening. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

According to the National Weather Service, rain moving through the area early this morning will bring up to one inch of new rainfall to the region. More heavy rainfall is expected to develop during the late morning and early afternoon hours, bringing an additional inch of rain to the area. Locally higher amounts of rain are possible, especially where rain trains over the same locations. This next round of rainfall could cause flash flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone locations.
