A man died in a Saturday night residential fire in Stow.
The man, who was 46 years old according to the Summit County medical examiner's office, was found on the second floor of the residence by Stow firefighters responding to the fire.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.
"The city of Stow fire department extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim," stated the fire department in a media release sent Sunday morning. "We are appreciative of the efforts of all responding agencies who assisted with fire suppression and emergency medical services."
Firefighters had been dispatched at around 10:50 p.m., where they encountered heavy fire and smoke at the rear of the structure.
The man was taken to the front yard, where responding firefighters initiated CPR and other life-support measures. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
During searches in the residence, two dogs were rescued.
Several neighborhood safety forces also responded, including the Kent, Hudson and Munroe Falls fire departments, the Stow police department, and the Ohio State Fire Marshal's office, according to the Stow fire department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
