A misconduct hearing for a doctor who left the UK in the wake of sexual assault accusations has been given the go-ahead to proceed in his absence.
Dr Jawad Ahmad faces allegations of sexual harassment against a junior doctor in 2020, while they both worked at the Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent.
He was also accused of failing to inform his employer of his arrest on suspicion of sexually assaulting against a teenage girl, in June 2020.
Ahmad left the country about five years ago, after the allegations were raised and was believed to be in Pakistan, Staffordshire Police said.
A Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) hearing, which began earlier in Ahmad's absence, was told there were six allegations of misconduct.
The accusations made by the then junior doctor, referred to as Ms A in the hearing, included invitations to dinner from Ahmad and requests to visit her home to pick up books.
He was also alleged to have hugged Ms A when she was trying to leave, pushed her down onto a chair, massaged her back and shoulders, and kissed her.
The MPTS hearing report said Ahmad's alleged actions were an abuse of his more senior position, were sexually motivated and were carried out without Ms A's consent.
Ahmad, who was a urology registrar, was also alleged to have signed a contract extension with University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust on 22 June 2020, without disclosing he had been arrested for a suspected criminal offence.
He had been taken into custody two days earlier, after allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl at Trentham Monkey Forest in Stoke-on-Trent.
The General Medical Council deemed his actions as dishonest and said he had an obligation to declare his arrest, but did not do so because he wanted the new contract.
The hearing in Stoke-on-Trent, which is scheduled to last for two weeks, is set to continue on Tuesday.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "Dr Ahmad left the country around five years ago after the allegations were raised and is believed to be in Pakistan.
"We will be notified if he returns to the UK or another country which supports extradition, and he will be arrested and interviewed. The victim has been kept up to date."
