U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro presented President Donald Trump with a box of evidence to show the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was damaged by botched construction and not by vandals, according to a new report released Tuesday.

CBS News reported that Pirro made her case Monday to the president, hours after he had publicly rebuked her for dropping a vandalism case against former U.S. Olympian David Hearn.

Federal prosecutors have also moved to dismiss vandalism charges against three other individuals, who were accused of removing pieces of paint from the Reflecting Pool, online court records show.

Pirro was spotted by CNN Monday leaving the White House as she wheeled a briefcase and white box behind her.

Trump sidestepped questions about whether he would fire Pirro, a former Fox News host who he handpicked as the top federal prosecutor. But he didn't hold back in his disappointment, telling reporters that she "folded like an umbrella."

"Frankly, I think she choked because the judge was really vicious," Trump said from the Oval Office. "Instead of going after the people that did it, the judge went after her and went after her department, and I guess she choked. I don't know what the hell happened."

The president's attack followed a blunt post on his Truth Social platform over the weekend, in which he wrote: "I disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro."

The Justice Department indicated in a filing Friday that additional documents from the Department of Interior showed that "flawed installation by the contractor, Atlantic Industrial Coatings," as well as "the rush to complete the project prior to events associated with the America 250 celebration," were to blame for the damage instead of vandalism.

"Had DOI been forthcoming with the information clearly in its possession, the government would not have sought a grand jury indictment," the filing reads.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum had attempted to dispute the DOJ's claim in a post on X on Saturday.

"The evidence is clear, vandals have repeatedly caused damage to the Reflecting Pool," Burgum said. "Some of these acts were even caught on camera. We also provided the U.S. Attorney's office expert and eyewitness testimony to the damage done by vandals and provided every piece of evidence they asked for in the requested time line detailing each area of damage at the pool."

Trump appeared to acknowledge issues with the contractor during his remarks on Monday.

"I'm not saying I was 100% thrilled with the contractor," the president said, adding: "We wanted to get it open for July 4th. But in addition, there was vandalism."
