The crash put Rodrigues into the hospital and, according to the lawsuit, he continues to be "partially disabled" as a result. A State Police report said Trooper Augustine K. Moore's inattention and failure to yield right-of-way contributed to the wreck.

The lawsuit comes after Rodrigues' attorney said Moore has refused to discuss an out-of-court settlement. The legal complaint, filed July 29 in Plymouth County Superior Court, said Rodrigues' medical bills topped $32,000.

Brockton Police Sgt. Robert DiLiddo has worked closely alongside canines for decades — or rather, K-9s.

"I started my career ... with the K-9s in 1997," he said. "(Got) my first dog (and) got involved heavily with the training of these working dogs back then." DiLiddo oversees the Brockton Police K-9 Program for the Brockton Police Department, and he's an assistant trainer for the Southeastern Metro K-9 Group.

Now, his contributions are being celebrated. DiLiddo and Kilo headed to the Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park on Tuesday, Aug. 4, where they where presented with the "Service Dog of the Game" award, highlighting DiLiddo's efforts in K-9 education and the partnership he's formed with his dog.

A second teenager has died following a crash involving a stolen SUV in Abington on July 29, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office told The Enterprise on Aug. 1.

The second victim was a teen girl, according to reporting by Enterprise media partner WCVB, citing the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office. The victim's name was not released.

The second death follows a crash Wednesday morning, July 29, in which a stolen SUV driven by a 17-year-old struck a tree after Abington police attempted to stop the vehicle, according to the DA's office. The 17-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two Brockton brothers have pleaded guilty in federal court to a 2024 robbery of the Energy Credit Union in West Roxbury where one of them worked.

Jenel Flounoury, 30, and Justin Flounoury, 34, each pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit larceny from a credit union on July 24, 2026, in Boston, after being indicted by a federal grand jury in 2025. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 19, 2026.

A Brockton woman convicted of murdering her two young sons will receive a new trial.

On Aug. 6, the state's highest court ordered that Latarsha L. Sanders be tried again in the killing of her sons, ages 8 and 5. The Supreme Judicial Court ruled that the trial judge did not allow certain medical evidence of mental illness that should have been allowed. The SJC also said the prosecutor went too far in closing statements by implying Sanders was inspired to kill by a TV show that was playing in her apartment when police found the bodies after the killings.
