WOOSTER — The Wayne County Health Department will host its next pop-up food pantry in conjunction with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. Aug. 11, in the parking lot of our offices at 244 West South Street in Wooster.
This pantry will be market-style. Those with mobility issues will be assisted.
"We served over 100 families in July. We cannot do this without our many volunteers who assist in all facets of the pantry who are more than happy to serve those in need," said Nick Cascarelli, Wayne County Health Commissioner, in a press release.
Individuals and families can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($31,920/year for individuals and adding $11,360 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of four whose annual household income is $66,000 or less would be eligible.
The Health Department asks that you do not park in the United Way or the Wayne Center for the Arts parking lots. They need those parking spots for their clients, employees and visitors. Park in the lot between the Health Department and the United Way. I

The following ODOT construction projects are anticipated to affect roadways in Wayne County. All outlined work is weather permitting.
Ohio 21 major rehabilitation: Ohio 21, from the Stark County line to the Summit County line, will have single-lane closures for resurfacing, berm work, final striping, rumble strip installation, and placing reflective pavement markings along the project limits. Clinton Road is open to traffic in an RCUT (Reduced Collision U-Turn) configuration. The Edwards Road intersection is fully operational in the new superstreet configuration. The Grill Road intersection is closed and will remain in this final configuration. Estimated completion: August 2026
Ohio 57 resurfacing: Ohio 57 from just north of the city Orrville to Ohio 585 will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: October 2026
Ohio 94/585/604 intersection improvement: The Ohio 94/585/604 intersection, north of Ohio 57, is closed for an intersection improvement project. The current two-way stop-controlled intersection will be converted into a single-lane roundabout. The detour route for Ohio 585 and Ohio 604 traffic will be to take Ohio 57 north to I-76 east to Ohio 94 south to Ohio 585 and reverse. The detour route for Ohio 94 traffic will be to take U.S. 30 west to Ohio 57 north to I-76 east to Ohio 94 and reverse. Estimated completion: October 2026
Ohio 226 resurfacing: Ohio 226 from Ohio 3 to the Holmes County line will have single-lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers in a single 10-ft lane. Estimated completion: August 2026
Ohio 301 culvert replacement: Ohio 301 between Massie Road and Ruff Road is closed for a culvert replacement. The detour route will be Ohio 301 north to Ohio 604 west to U.S. 42 north to Ohio 301 and reverse. Estimated completion: Sept. 2.
Ohio 302 resurfacing: Ohio 302 from Old Lincoln Way to Camp Road, will have single-lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: October 2026
Ohio 585 culvert replacement: Ohio 585 from just south of Apple Creek Road and Five Points opened to traffic on Friday, July 24. Project work still remains so traffic will be maintained by portable traffic signals. Estimated completion: October 2026
The following ODOT construction projects are anticipated to impact traffic in Holmes County.
Ohio 179 upcoming closure: Please note, this closure is separate from the current closure on Ohio 179. Starting August 25, Ohio 179 will close just south of Ohio 226 for a bridge rehabilitation project. The closure duration is 120 days. The detour is Ohio 39 west to Ohio 3 north, back to Ohio 179, and reverse. Estimated Completion: Dec. 31.
Ohio 179 closure: Ohio 179 is closed for 60 days from Ohio 39 to Ohio 226 for a pavement rehabilitation project. The detour is Ohio 39 west to Ohio 3 north, Ohio 3 north back to Ohio 179, and reverse. Estimated Completion: Sept. 30.
Ohio 39 nighttime resurfacing: Work is underway to resurface eight miles of Ohio 39 from just west of Ohio 93 in Sugarcreek to U.S. 62 in Berlin. Work hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Estimated Completion: Oct. 31.
