Off-duty Montgomery police officer charged with domestic violence

A Montgomery police officer has been relieved of duty after being charged with domestic violence.

Ineka Skipper, 35, joined the Montgomery Police Department in 2014, and had been assigned to the Training and Career Development Bureau. Skipper was off-duty on extended military leave at the time of the alleged domestic violence incident, said MPD's Lt. Tina McGriff.

McGriff said MPD began disciplinary proceedings with an internal investigation into Skipper on Aug. 10, after being notified of the charges from the Municipal Court Magistrate's Office. According to MPD, Skipper is charged with Domestic Violence 3rd-Criminal Mischief and Domestic Violence 3rd-Menacing.

Skipper turned herself in Aug. 11, and was booked into the Montgomery Municipal Jail, McGriff said.

The investigation is ongoing, McGriff said.
