Congressman Ralph Norman told Channel 9's Tina Terry he had to make it to the runoff election, and he managed to do just that Tuesday night.
But it was a tight race at times, especially between Norman and Congressman Russell Fry.
It was just a few hundred votes separating the two, but Norman prevailed as the second-place finisher.
On Tuesday he said he is ready to debate Sen. Graham and really wants to know where she stands on the issues.
On the campaign trail, Norman argued he's the most conservative candidate in this race, and said he has the experience to advocate for South Carolina in the Senate and get things done.
He also had a message for voters who backed other candidates in this primary: He wants their support in two weeks.
"I may not have been the first choice, I may not have been the second choice. I want to be the third and fourth choice of everybody. I want everybody to unite and come with us," said Norman.
He also addressed that coveted endorsement by President Donald Trump, which ultimately went to Sen. Graham. Norman said everyone wanted it, but it's the voters who will decide who wins the race in two weeks.
