More than three dozen horses were seized by Oakland County Animal Control officers on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at a Milford farm and a private residence.
Oakland County Public Information Officer Bill Mullan confirmed in a text that animal control officers served two search warrants and took the horses from High Vibe Trail Rides located at 2471 Meadowood Lane, as well as a home on West Commerce Road.
Mullan said shortly before 3 p.m. that officers were on scene and the investigation was ongoing, with Oakland County Animal Control the lead agency, with assistance from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Huron-Clinton Metro Authority Police, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office and the Milford Police.
The horses are being taken to a Michigan-based horse rescue, where veterinary staff will evaluate their condition.
According to their website, High Vibe Trail Rides offers day and night trail rides for individuals and groups through Kensington Metro Park.
On a biography page about team members, "Lucie" is identified as the owner of High Vibe Trail Rides and is said to have grown up "in a humble family and used to pray at night to please dream that she was riding so that way it was actually like she was doing it in real life.
