The entrance to the Fulton County Jail is blocked off for an investigation. MARTA police say they were requested to assist in the search for an inmate.

Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach is outside the jail on Rice Street, where patrol vehicles are stationed. He also saw Atlanta police vehicles in the area and at the Greyhound Station not far from the jail.
MARTA police confirmed that they have officers canvassing stations near the jail after they were asked by the Fulton County Sheriff's Office to assist in a search for a jail escapee.

"MPD officers are aware of the situation and are currently canvassing nearby stations in an effort to locate the subject," a MARTA spokesperson said initially.
The agency also said they were monitoring camera feeds from their Real Time Crime Center to determine whether the person officers are searching for is near MARTA property.
Channel 2 Action News reached out to multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, Thursday morning about the situation and is waiting for a response.
