CHICAGO — A Chicago man accused of fatally stabbing a woman on the city's Northwest Side on Monday afternoon is now facing a felony murder charge.
According to Chicago police, 58-year-old Israel Vazquez, a Chicago resident, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder.

The charge stems from a stabbing that allegedly occurred on the afternoon of Monday, Aug. 10, in the 3900 block of West Wellington Avenue in Avondale.
Officers were first called to the scene following a report of a stabbing in the area. When they arrived, they found the victim, a 47-year-old woman who had suffered a puncture wound to the chest, unresponsive inside a residence.
The victim was later pronounced dead on the scene.
Officers had initially reported that the victim was 48 years old but later clarified that she was actually 47.

Vazquez was taken into custody just hours after the alleged stabbing.
It remains unclear what led to the stabbing.
Vazquez is set to appear in court on Thursday for a detention hearing.
