What initially appeared to be a deadly crash in Goldsboro is now being investigated as homicide, and two juveniles have been charged.
Officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded around 5:26 a.m. on Tuesday to the 600 block of W. Holly Street for a reported car crash. When officers arrived, they found a deceased person inside the vehicle and launched an investigation.
Investigators later identified the victim as Anthony Hutchinson, 29, of Goldsboro.
According to police, further investigation revealed that Hutchinson had been shot before the crash occurred.
Authorities developed two suspects in the case, both juveniles from Goldsboro. A 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old male were arrested and each charged with one open count of murder.
Both suspects were taken to the Pitt Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police have not released additional details about a possible motive or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
