Looking to soak up the last of the summer sun this August and September?
Along with the classic beach days and coastal dining New England is known for, nothing says summer like an ice-cold drink. Luckily, the region also has plenty of breweries, beer gardens and vineyards where tourists and locals alike can enjoy a beverage under the sun.
In Rhode Island specifically, summer sippers can find everything from vibrant breweries in the city to scenic vineyards by the water, offering the perfect outdoor drinking spot for every beer or wine lover.
Here are seven breweries and wineries with seasonal outdoor seating to check out in Rhode Island.
Founded in 2014, Tilted Barn Brewery is a 30-barrel brewery producing small batch, hand-crafted ales with a specialty in hazy New England IPAs. The taproom itself is located inside a rustic post-and-beam barn, with a spacious outdoor patio and an open lower field.
Tilted Barn's tasting room and patio are first come, first serve, and the brewery also hosts daily food trucks, live music and a variety of seasonal events.
When: 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday
Where: 1 Hemsley Place, Exeter
Newport Vineyards combines award-winning wine, fresh craft beer and farm-to-table dining on 100 acres of scenic preserved farmland. Reservations are not required to grab a glass of wine and enjoy the vineyard, but weekend space on the patio with walk-up service, standing tasting bars, raw bar and a charcuterie cart can be reserved online if you want to secure your spot.
The vineyard also offers wine and beer tastings during all hours and daily tours at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tours last 60-75 minutes and include a tasting of four wines. Newport Vineyards recommends booking tours online in advance.
Looking for a meal with your wine? Head to Farm & Barrel Bistro, the vineyard's farm-fresh restaurant with sandwiches, salads, seafood, raw bar and more. Dining reservations are strongly recommended.

Portsmouth's Ragged Island Brewing's 10-barrel brewhouse offers an extensive rotating draft list of farm-made craft beverages, including everything from custom coffee stout to raspberry sour ale. Located on 37 acres of farmland, Ragged Island has plenty of room to move around and explore, whether in the hop fields, walking trails, greenhouse or various outdoor decks with sweeping views of Narragansett Bay.
Ragged Island is a first come, first serve establishment, often hosting trivia nights, live music, food trucks and other special events.

The oldest vineyard in all of New England, Sakonnet Vineyard opened just a mile away from the Sakonnet River in Little Compton in 1975. Over time, the vineyard has expanded to 169 scenic acres, over 20 of which are dedicated to producing award-winning wines. Sakonnet is open to the public for tours of the grounds, seasonal food tastings from the cafe menu and of course, wine tastings, with homegrown wines including Belcourt White, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Coastal Blend.
Vineyard tours are offered at noon and 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Tickets, which can be bought online, cost $25 for a basic tour or $45 for a tour with wine tastings. Guided wine tastings are also available at the tasting bar on a first come, first serve basis.
No reservations are needed to enjoy a glass, bottle or flight of wine out on the scenic green lawn, filled with Adirondack chairs and picnic tables. The vineyard hosts live music every Saturday and Sunday in the summer, as well as a variety of special events like trivia nights and line dancing.

Narragansett Brewing Company, a historic brewery with roots dating back to 1890, operates a brewery in Providence with live entertainment, bar bites and craft beer, which can be enjoyed inside, on a patio or in the beer garden. Beer options include cream ales, IPAs and pilsners, while the food menu includes flatbread pizzas, hot dogs and wings.
When: Noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, 4-10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, noon to 10 p.m. Thursday and noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday

Enjoy wine from fresh farm-grown grapes with a scenic view of the Sakonnet River at Greenvale Vineyards. A family farm since 1863, Greenvale produces a variety of estate-grown reds, whites and rosé which have gained national attention. Wines can be tasted by the glass, bottle or flight inside the 1860s horse stable-turned-tasting-room or on the sprawling waterfront lawn.
Greenvale also offers tours for $50 per person at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday. The 75-minute tours include tastings and must be booked online in advance.

Where: 582 Wapping Road, Portsmouth
Located inside Warwick's 19th-century Pontiac Mills complex, Apponaug Brewing Company transports beer lovers back in time with 150-year-old pipes and exposed brick walls. On the outdoor patio, however, is the draw in the summer months as the seasonal space allows guests to sit and sip while taking in beautiful waterfront views of the Pawtuxet River.
In addition to a lineup of Japanese, Mexican and American-style beers, Apponaug Brewing offers wine, hard cider and specialty cocktails, all to be enjoyed with bar bites like fried pickles, tacos, loaded nachos and sliders. Apponaug does not accept reservations, and all tables are available on a first come, first serve basis.
When: 4-10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 4-11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday
