TYLER, Texas (KETK) -- Members of the coin collecting community across the country gathered at the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center in Tyler this weekend for the 19th annual Tyler Coin Show.
The event featured over one-hundred tables and 80 coin dealers, gold and silver trading, door prizes, raffles, a food truck and free ice cream coupons from Dairy Queen and Andy's Frozen custard.
"Coin collecting is the king of all hobbies, so there is a lot of people into coin collecting," Tyler Coin Club President Richard Graham said. "So anything financial like that, that you can hold onto and see it go up on value and sell it at a later date, that's just a lot of fun for a lot of people."
The annual coin show gives vendors and collectors a time to share their passion for buying, selling and collecting historic currency while making life long friends in the process.
"The people in the club made me feel welcome and made me feel like I wanna come back," Tyler Coin Club Treasurer Royce Jackson said. "It is important for us to do well and if we do well all these people who come from out of town are gonna spend money and its a bonus for the city of Tyler. We don't get much credit for what we do, but we just feel like this is what we do and we like doing it."
The Tyler Coin Show will be back next year for the 20th anniversary with plans to be bigger and better than ever.
