A man accused of committing a murder in 2023 now faces charges after an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The GBI says it charged and arrested Mateo Pinkston for a murder in 2023.
The GBI said Pinkston, 27 of Dearing, is charged with killing Steveance Tate on Sept. 9, 2023.

The GBI got involved in the investigation at the request of the Thomson Police Department.
Tate was found dead from gunshot wounds the evening of Sept. 23, 2023 on A Street in Thomson.
The preliminary investigation at the time indicated that Tate and a woman were sitting in front of a home when an unknown person approached the car and started shooting.
An undisclosed break in the case led the GBI to arrest Pinkston on Aug. 12.
