CENTTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) -- Parts of Central Illinois saw more than 10 inches of rainfall after severe storms over the weekend. Flooding led to detours in traffic, rivers rose, and fields were left covered in standing water.
Saturday night, emergency responders were seen searching flood waters in what is known as "Big Ditch" just south of Dewey in Champaign County. In a Facebook post made around 6:30 p.m., the Sangamon Valley Fire Protection District asked people to avoid the area of the Dewey Fisher Road and 1000E because of an emergency situation. WCIA reached out for more information, but did not immediately receive any additional details.

There were also several road closures Saturday, including Route 136, west of Fisher, which had to be shut down because of water on the tarmac. In west Champaign, fields were draining after they were flooded -- while over in Royal, front yards and streets looked more like ponds. In Vermilion County, Interstate 74 was closed for hours on Saturday. Traffic was diverted to route 150, starting at about 9:30 a.m., due to standing water. State Police said all lanes were affected, but they have since reopened.
And in Gibson City, the Harvest Moon Drive-in has been forced to close for the weekend because of flooding.
