A man riding a motorcycle was killed in a collision with another vehicle near Palm Springs on Sunday, Aug. 16.
The crash was reported around 7 a.m. at the intersection of North Indian Canyon Drive and Teagarden Drive, according to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Officer David Torres. That intersection is located in an unincorporated area known as North Palm Springs, just outside the city limits.
The collision occurred when a gray Kia was heading west on Teagarden Drive and making a left turn onto North Indian Canyon Drive. As the Kia entered the roadway, the motorcycle crashed into the left side of the car, with its rider falling onto the roadway, according to Torres.
The motorcyclist, who Torres said was a 36-year-old man from Desert Hot Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene. The rider had not yet been identified by the Riverside County Coroner's Office as of early Sunday afternoon.
The driver and passengers of the Kia remained at the scene, with the driver transferred to Desert Regional Medical Center with complaints of back and neck pain. Torres said alcohol and drugs were not suspected factors in the collision.
