VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- Three people have been indicted in connection with an animal cruelty and animal fighting investigation in Virginia Beach, according to the Commonwealth Attorney's Office.
The three indicted individuals include 53-year-old Ruben Leon, 63-year-old David Alonso Gil and 28-year-old Miguel Angel Garcia Torres.
Each are charged with five counts of Possession of Animal for Fighting (a class six felony) and five counts of Animal Cruelty (a class one misdemeanor).
10 On Your Side has been investigating this case since August of last year when over 200 birds were seized from a Virginia Beach property as part of a cockfighting investigation.

213 birds were surrender by the owner, which included 36 adult roosters and two injured birds that were humanely euthanized.
