A spontaneous strike by baggage handling staff at Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv has caused significant delays, with all check-ins temporarily halted, Israeli media reported on Thursday.
The strike hit on one of the busiest days of the summer holiday period.
Israeli news portal ynet reported that check-in operations were expected to resume in the afternoon.
Video footage showed long queues and crowds forming in the terminal of the heavily frequented airport.
Israeli business newspaper Calcalist reported that more than 100,000 passengers were expected on Thursday alone.
The airport has been operating at high capacity for some time, with significant delays occurring repeatedly. Reasons cited include US tanker aircraft stationed at the airport due to the war with Iran, bottlenecks at Greek airports and a lack of infrastructure and staffing capacity - particularly in baggage handling and security checks.
