A paraglider was rescued after becoming trapped on a cliff face hundreds of feet high in Daly City on Wednesday following a crash, according to a social media post by the CHP's Golden Gate Division.

The call came in just after 4 p.m. reporting the solo crash just north of Mussel Rock, with the man located on "extremely rough terrain," about 500 feet from the top of the cliff, according to the the Daly City Fire Fighters Local 400.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the CHP Golden Gate Division's air operations, Daly City Fire Department and an American Medical Response ambulance. With the trapped individual stuck on the cliff face far above the beach, a CHP helicopter was dispatched along with a Daly City Fire Department rescue technician to extract him.

Video of the scene shows the first responder being lowered to the steep cliffside to reach the man before both rescuer and paraglider were hoisted hundreds of feet up to the waiting helicopter.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to a local trauma center with moderate injuries, according to the North County Fire Authority. His current condition is not known.

From the initial call, it took about 90 minutes before the patient was rescued and taken to the hospital and the scene was fully cleared.

Bay Area fire departments regularly have to rescue individuals, and sometimes animals, that become trapped along tall, steep cliffs overlooking the ocean. Earlier this week, SFFD rescued a stranded dog near Dead Man's Point close to Lands End in San Francisco after its owner said it went over the edge.
