A 67-year-old motorcyclist was flown to an area trauma center Saturday night following a two-vehicle crash in south Pierce County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 9:40 p.m., the Monroe man was headed north on state Route 7 near the town of Alder, which is about 12 miles south of Eatonville. In front of him, a 29-year-old Kentucky man also headed north in a pick-up truck, according to the State Patrol.

Troopers say the motorcyclist was following too closely and crashed into the truck.

The Monroe man was wearing a helmet, but still needed to be flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for his injuries.

The Kentucky man was not hurt, according to the State Patrol.

Following the crash, the road was partially blocked for two hours and 50 minutes.
