One employee was killed, and another man was injured in a shooting inside a restaurant in Brooklyn.
Police say officers responded to a 911 call just after midnight from American Best Wings and Pizza on Rockaway Avenue in Brownsville.
The officers found a 44-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head -- he was an employee of the halal fast-food eatery. A 39-year-old man was shot in the leg. It is unclear whether he was a worker. Both men were taken to the hospital, where the 44-year-old was pronounced dead.
Police were still going through evidence and video from inside the shop late Sunday.
Neighbors who eat and shop along the street are upset. They say this row of businesses has always seemed safe, and that whatever the attack was - a robbery or something personal - it is deeply disturbing. They say the workers at American Best were kind to their customers.
"This is the best chicken spot here, and I'm just surprised that this is happening. I just wish that my community could stop the violence, you know. It's really, really sad," said Jamal Brown.
"You don't even hear about robberies around here, much less a shooting. So I was definitely shocked. I hope they catch them, everything is under surveillance right now and I hope they catch the person, because it's another person that'll be off the streets," added Melvin Irby.
Police say no one is in custody and the victim's identity has not yet been released.
The motive is unknown and there is no description of what happened or who they are looking for.
