SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) —If you're in the market for a new home, perhaps one built by some Sioux City high school students is what you are looking for.
Sunday afternoon, folks got a look at a new home built by high school juniors and seniors who are part of the Sioux City Career Academy Trades Program. The home displayed at the program's open house features 1,400 square feet of space, three bedrooms, one bathroom, an oversized garage, and many other options that make it more accessible for people with disabilities. The home is 90% completed and whoever purchases the home can help add the finishing touches to it.

"This is the third house we've sold directly to our community. There are some logistical challenges, like you have to get it to your foundation, all that good stuff. But the first two home buyers are thrilled with the product and the resale value of their house. When they buy it, it immediately doubles in value once it hits their foundation or more," said Eric Kilburn, principal of the Career Academy.
