Shelton firefighters rescue driver trapped in overturned truck, officials say

SHELTON - Firefighters tore through the roof of an overturned pickup truck Wednesday to rescue a trapped motorist, officials said. 

Emergency crews responded to the rollover crash shortly after 2 p.m. in the 700 block of Bridgeport Avenue, according to the Shelton Fire Department. 

Officials said crews first worked to stabilize the vehicle, which came to a rest on its passenger side, before removing the roof with hydraulic rescue tools. 

Officials said the sole occupant was then transported to a local facility for evaluation, but did not share more about their condition. 

It was not immediately clear what caused the wreck. Officials said the roadway has since been reopened to traffic.
