PLYMOUTH ‒ The jury in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial continues deliberations Friday, Aug. 28 at Plymouth Superior Court, a day after opposing sides delivered closing arguments after nearly five weeks of testimony from scores of witnesses.
On Thursday, Aug. 27, Judge William Sullivan instructed jurors on three different possible charges: first-degree murder, second-degree murder and manslaughter. Sullivan also explained the prosecution's burden to prove that Clancy was criminally responsible, meaning she could appreciate the wrongfulness and illegality of her acts and conform her conduct with the law.
Jurors deliberated for roughly four hours Thursday before breaking for the day. Court resumes Friday at 9 a.m.
Clancy, 36, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder related to the strangling deaths of her children Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. Clancy acknowledges killing the children in January 2023, but claims she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible for her acts.
